The National Wildlife Federation, 1412 16th N.W.. Washington 6, D. has released a sheet of 50 "songbird stamps," in an effort to proits conservation program. The post office is under heavy pressure to go along with other nations in postally honoring the centenary of the International Red Cross, being observed this year. The United States honored that body with a 3-cent commemorative in 1952.

FOREIGN ISSUES China will release two Red Cross stamps Sept. 1. The lower denomination will show a nurse in profile, and the higher will have a globe over which is imposed a streamer with inscription. The Philippines will release 5, 6 and 20 sentimo adhesives Sept. 1 also, featuring the lighted lamp symbol, while The Netherlands will issue five semi-postals Oct.

25 based on designs by Rein Draijer of The Hague. The latter has also announced 4, 6 and 10- cent stamps featuring scenes. Western Germany, on Sept. 23, will release a welfare (semi -postal) set based on a fairy tale by the brothers Grimm titled "The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids." The gathering of the second largest national group will continue through Sept. 1. The American Air Mail Society has voted against holdits 1964 convention in Washington in conjunction with the opening of the Hall of Philately and Postal History of the Smithsonian's Museum of tory and Technology. Instead the A.A.M.S. will meet in New York.
