People’s Defender

On the strength of her .463 batting average and 14 wins in the center circle, Manchester junior Rylie Young recently made school softball history, boldly going where no Lady Hound had gone before. Beating out some stiff competition, Young became the first Lady Hound in school history to be named Southeast District Player of the Year in Division IV, chosen by the district coaches association.

Young took the top prize but seven other players from Adams County schools garnered district honors for the coaches. Those included:

• Kaelyn Musser, Peebles (Division III Honorable Mention)

• Caydence Carroll, Peebles (Division III Honorable Mention)

• Carlee Garrison, North Adams (Division III Honorable Mention)

• Paige Evans, North Adams (Division III Honorable Mention)

• Jenna Campbell, Manchester (Division IV Second Team)

• Brislynn McClanahan, Manchester (Division IV Honorable Mention)

• Addilyn Hunter, Manchester (Division IV Honorable Mention)

In total, 18 players from the Southern Hills Athletic Conference received All-District recognition, with Fairfield’s Caitlyn Quickle being named the Division III Co-Player of the Year.
