I feel like KPOP from 2016 to 2020 was when it was at its height of popularity. Is it still popular in the US?
Blackpink were invited to a state banquet hosted by King Charles so maybe KPOP is still popular?

It's still popular it just never hit what I assume to be your demographic, just like it never hit mine. But for the marketplace where its big its still as big as ever.

Popularity has gone down alot. They made another peak during covid when people were locked down because of the constant content. But now big companies are just shoving mediocre content onto people and its getting boring.

The popularity in Korean entertainment in general has slowed down but still popular. I've noticed many people don't talk about Kdramas anymore they way they did a couple of years ago which is interesting considering Netflix has set aside one billion in funding for Korean entertainment investment.

Yes Kpop is still popular, the Kpop groups just did coachella and will be doing other music festivals/tours in America & a Kpop album sold more than Beyoncé’s album sooo

I think it feel off because you have a significant number of male kpop artists in the military. All of BTS is in, majority of Monsta x is in, key members of Got 7, SF9 and more.

As someone who used to watch it-- Kdramas have changed a lot, they're not nearly as good as they were. Idk about Kpop but it's probably the same. Kdramas are trying to copy Western entertainment which is a big no.
Now instead of good shows that have longevity you have stuff like Squid Game, which was super popular but is not getting talked about now and I'm sure it doesn't have any re-watch value either like other Korean shows. It's a shame but whatever. I've been exploring Japanese shows instead, even C-dramas (chinese dramas) are entertaining especially the historical ones.

As far as in the U.S. Kpop is still very niche but has a big following. I will say it has gown in popularity. Meaning folks know of Kpop and definitely know the bigger groups like BTS but outside of them and maybe Blackpink the other groups aren't as known by casual music listeners.

In hindsight, Netflix expanding their entertainment to where half their original content is Kdramas wasn't a great move. These entertainment companies are either producing the same concept over and over or they're more mid or lackluster shows the gem. I will say that Hulu have some good kdramas but they aren't promoted.

I'm honestly not sure since I'm American. I know it's popular in Latin America.

It is dead in America, thank god!
They are a creepy, soulless plastic-looking ripoffs of Black Americans. Koop was trash and racist.

I think Kpop is reaching the point where quality is becoming more of a demand than quantity.

People always sh*t on Squid Game. It definitely is still popular. Way more popular than any kdrama ever.

My friend takes me to these K. pop club nights where they just have DJ that play K. pop all night every time we go that club is packed.
I know people going to multiple concerts this month. These concerts get sold out and people are staying up like all night to get tickets it's still very much crazy. It's just not your demographic.
