Air Fryer Dog Treats

Let's be honest with each other....dogs are the best. I'm right, right? There's nothing quite like coming through that door and having your four-legged best friend happy to see it.

That wagging tail...the happy upbeat manner...and I swear, sometimes it's as though my dogs are smiling at me. It's such a nice way to relax at home with a pup actually excited to have you there.

This is just one of the reasons why I love spoiling dogs. Not only do they always make me smile but they're called "man's best friend" for a reason. Having them happy to see me lifts my spirits time and time again. Here are my three fur-babies that are sure to greet me with puppy kisses every time I get home.

If you're ready for an easy dog treat recipe to give them back a little bit of the joy that they bring you, this is the easiest recipe ever. And the best part? You get to use your air fryer to cook them!

As if I need ANOTHER reason to love my air fryer....but this recipe is legit awesome!

What are the healthiest dog snacks?

One of the best things that you can feed your dog is pumpkin because it has a lot of fiber and is loaded with good nutrients for dogs. The peanut butter is an added bonus and something most dogs love and crave.

What dog treats are dangerous for my dog?

Really anything processed with preservatives isn't going to be ideal for your dog. This can be hard on their digestive system and cause other issues, too. A lot of dog treats from the store have fillers in them that make them shelf-stable. While that can be nice for convenience and your budget, fillers and preservatives are not something that you want to make a habit of feeding to your dog.

Another thing to keep in mind is that table scraps really aren't that great for dogs, either. And trust me on this...I know how hard it is to say "no" to a dog that is sitting there staring at you, begging for food. But you have to because food from the table is often seasoned with spices or has added ingredients that may be harmful to your dog.

How long do homemade dog treats usually keep?

Since these are made with fresh ingredients, they're not going to last as long as other dog treats. I always keep them in a sealed container or bag and store them in the fridge. I have a rule of thumb to try and use them up within seven days for my dogs to keep them as fresh as possible.

And if it's not possible, then I just know that I have a few other dog owner friends that I can gift these to as well.

How to store homemade dog treats

Keeping the treats out of the air is the biggest thing to remember. I like to always store them in the fridge as well just to be certain that they stay at a cool consistent temp.

Tips for feeding your dog homemade treats

Just like anything, moderation is going to be the key. You don't want to give the dogs treats all the time as even the most healthy treats can cause an upset tummy if too much is given.

You can also use these treats as a fun way to train them to do new tricks. I'm certain that a dog would be more than willing to roll over, sit, or speak for one of these tasty pumpkin treats!

Last but not least, be certain that these treats are cooled down from the air fryer before feeding to your dog. The last thing that you want to have happened is to have them burn their mouth!

Ways to share these homemade dog treats

Speaking of giving to others, these DIY dog treats make for great gift ideas. If you are looking for unique gift ideas for someone who has a dog, why not give them some of these pumpkin dog treats that you've made fresh at home?

The dogs are certain to love them and we all know that homemade gifts and treats are the best. You can easily add them to a cute mason jar with a bow and put them in a sealed decorative bag. They're fun for holidays, or as a great gift for the pup's birthday, too!
