I am a huge fan of dessert. Show me a chocolate cake, and nary will a time come when I turn you down. My only problem is that I show little restraint when it comes to sweets. Bake a pan of brownies? I’ll eat half all by myself. Make cookies? I’ve eaten more than my share before I’ve even washed the mixing bowls. Just give me all the sugar. On my quest to eat healthier, I still find times where I just need a little something sweet- but not an entire cake. Enter, the mug cake! It’s a single serving cake that’s whipped up and heated in a coffee mug just in the microwave! Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth, without wreaking havoc on your waistline.

1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Mug Cake
My favorite dessert combo has been, and will always been peanut butter and chocolate cake. With only 6 ingredients, which you probably already have stocked in your baking pantry, you can have this DELICIOUSLY sweet dessert in literally 1 minute of microwave cooking. I’ll be making this later, thank you very much!

2. Nutella Mug Cake
I honestly don’t think I’ve met a person yet who doesn’t like Nutella. I know you’re out there somewhere, but most people see the deliciousness that is Nutella and can’t get enough! This simple cake is a mixture of cocoa and Nutella, a perfect combo. Wouldn’t these be best enjoyed with a tall glass of cold milk?

3. Coffee Cake In A Mug
Nothing goes better with a hot cup of coffee than coffee cake! Sure, you may have to manhandle two mugs as you sit down, but it’s worth it. Apple sauce, brown sugar and cinnamon make this lightly spiced cake a perfect companion with your cup a joe.

4. Blueberry Muffin Mug Cake
For you “health nuts” out there who want to incorporate fruit into your sweet treats, I give you the blueberry muffin mug cake. Just kidding though, because pretty much the only healthy thing about this recipe is the fresh blueberries! You’ll find the other ingredients are typical cake items, like butter and sugar. Microwave and enjoy has breakfast or a snack!

5. Vanilla Mug Cake
Chocolate is by and large my favorite sweet flavor, but sometimes a good old fashioned vanilla just sounds amazing. Especially when it’s topped with some sort of chocolate fudge or more vanilla ice cream. This version is super moist (you have no idea how hard it was for me to type that word- it’s SO GROSS) and uses vanilla bean paste to get the vanilla specks. It’s not cheap, but will definitely give you that overt vanilla flavor.

6. S’mores Chocolate Mug Cake
Just because summer is only a small part of the year, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy everyone’s favorite dessert- S’mores! This mug recipe has everything you love about a S’more, from the marshmallows to the graham crackers and chocolate. It actually has more ingredients then the other mug cakes we’ve featured, but I think it’s worth it. Would you look at that creation?!

7. Lemon Mug Cake
There are few flavors that are as refreshing as lemon. It’s light, airy and has just the right amount of sweet and sour. Fresh lemon juice and zest really give this mug cake a kick, while the rest of the ingredients you’ll find you probably already have stocked. Heat in the microwave and enjoy while it’s still warm.
